A top national and international panel headlined the recent 2019 FA Futsal Conference at SGP.
The focus was on Fast Forward with Futsal, bringing those in the UK game closer to the FA’s 2018-24 Futsal strategy, with leading names from the game sharing their experience and expertise. Guest speakers Venancio Hierro, Spain Futsal Technical Director and Luis Conceicao, Portugal Women’s Futsal Head Coach revealed fascinating insights into their respective national and local set-ups from Youth Futsal through to the Elite level of the game, supported with a practical session in the Futsal hall. Peter Sturgess, FA Technical Lead, Foundation Phase delivered practical and analysis sessions on introducing the building blocks at 5-11yrs, while Mike Skubala, England Head Coach worked with current England U19 squad on breaking the block and ‘stepping into the light’!
An excellent opportunity for Futsal Clubs, Coaches and Fans of the game to meet, share ideas and continue on their journey of learning and development. The FA continues to take positive steps on introducing the game into the school curriculum at a grassroots level, as well as an overhaul of the current National Futsal League structure, and plans in place to commence for the 2019/20 season. An exciting time ahead, an opportunity for the game to grow across our region!
