MK Mavericks Futsal Mid-Season Review

The 1st half of an eventful season, featuring in the inaugural FA National Futsal Series (FA NFS) draws to a close, as MK Mavericks Senior squad recover from a break in the fixture list and prepare for the 1st round of the FA Futsal Cup (Vs Sporting Southend @Essex University on Sun 16/02). The squad are getting back into fixture time, fielding youth players and new signings from the January transfer window, to experiment combinations against development sides from Northampton Lions and Birmingham Futsal Club.

Fixtures have been completed against London powerhouse clubs Genesis, Escolla and Chelsea, travelling further afield to Sussex and closer to home for Bedford. The highlight of the round included a thrilling 3-3 against Futsal royalty Baku United, coming from behind three times to secure a well-earned draw demonstrate the character of the group. Mavericks home round was successfully hosted @Stantonbury on Sun 17/11, with three high scoring matches playing out, the squad pulled together to deliver a first-class event, the first of its kind in MK & North Bucks!

New players were signed during the January transfer window, among them two Mavericks youth players, Dan Hosier and Keiron Mobbs. New signings Mikey McCormack, Aafaq Hussain and Harrison Mills, all from MK College, strengthen more links with Further Education and bring the number of College players to 5 in the Senior squad. Several coaches and players are on their coaching journey, completing (or well on the way to achieving) Futsal and Football coaching qualifications. Links with MK College in the Association of Colleges (AOC) programme, MK Dons SET in the Community and launching the pilot MK & North Bucks Youth Futsal League - mean more opportunities for players to participate and continuing to grow the game across our region!

FA NFS action starts again with the 2nd half of the season on Sun 23/02 v Escolla in what is sure to be another explosive encounter against the current league leaders! MK & North Bucks Youth Futsal League 2020!

MK Mavericks are proud to announce the launch of our regions 1st Youth Futsal League, delivering a provision to MK & North Bucks. Leagues for U11/12 and U13/14 boys will commence 31st January 2020, the format will be Fri night game time, running alternate weeks covering five fixtures! Spaces are limited, so make sure you secure your spot, get out of the cold & come indoors, and avoid missing out on the Futsal evolution sweeping across our region. MK Mavericks host NFS!

The FA NFS rolled into MK late November, with MK Mavericks successfully hosting Round 4 of the FA's flagship competition at Stantonbury International Sports Campus. Three exciting games opened with a tough fought draw between Chelsea and Baku, followed up by wins for Escolla over fellow leading Tier Two contenders Genesis and Bedford, who gained the better of Mavericks at their home event in an action-packed encounter! A great day for Futsal in the region, expertly supported by a team of dedicated Club volunteers, joined by Club Youth mascots, MK Dons SET, MK College and Berks & Bucks FA. Mavericks lead MK College AOC campaign!

MK Mavericks are extremely pleased to partner MK College and support the delivery of the Futsal Academy programme. MK College is competing in the Association of Colleges (AOC) National League competition, and have so far completed three fixtures in MK, London and Salisbury. The AOC league is in its inaugural season and MK Mavericks are delighted to be delivering a syllabus alongside the well established MK College Football Academy. A great opportunity to connect with local education and lay the pathway for 16-19yrs to get involved in Senior Futsal. FA NFS Hosted Round Sun 17/11

Futsal, an exciting indoor 5v5 variation of Football, comes to MK on Sun 17/11, as MK Mavericks Futsal Club host Round 4 of the FA National Futsal Series (NFS) at Stantonbury International School Sports Campus (MK14 6BN). The event will include 4 fixtures played at the venue throughout the course of the day. The Senior MK Mavericks squad features young local talent, including representation from MK College. There is sure to be a full day’s entertainment on the court, with MK Mavericks featuring in the main event (Game 3) against neighbours Bedford Futsal Club, KO 14.50. 

The venue opens at 09.30, entry on the door adult £5 and U16 FREE, the Club are running a ‘Celebrate the Mavericks sash’ day and any spectator arriving in a white sports shirt with red sash gains FREE entry! Chelsea kick off proceedings v Baku at 10.30, with further games at 12.40, 14.50 and 17.00.

We have achieved an enormous amount in a short time, and it continues to highlight the ambition and commitment of the Club to grow the game across our region. It’s great to see local players given the opportunity to compete at the top level, enjoy every minute!”

MK Mavericks compete in FA National Futsal Series, Tier Two South, the only official Series format endorsed by the FA. The Club is affiliated to Berks & Bucks County FA (BBFA) and work alongside MK College to deliver the Futsal programme (supporting the successful Football Academy), as well as community initiatives with MK Dons Sports Education Trust (SET) and Futsal inclusion programmes across the region. The Club has a Senior and Youth structure, offering opportunities to play and participation for all.
